Petaling Street


Petaling Street is a Chinatown located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It is recognised for pirated clothes and accessories along with bootleg DVDs and CDs. Petaling Street however doesn't exclusively offer pirated products. Haggling is a common sight here and the place is usually crowded with locals as well as tourists. There are dozens of food restaurants and food stalls, serving local favourites such as Hokkien mee, ikan bakar, adam laksa ad curry noodles. Traders here are mainly Chinese but there are also Indian, Malay, and Bangladeshi traders.

Kasturi Walk

This is Kasturi Walk. As you can see, there are many old buildings, which are over half a century. These buildings are still well maintained and re-painted. Kasturi Walk is a place where you find amazing art pieces and different styles of doing it.

Sand Art

Here we can see a man displaying his specialty in Sand Art. He is creating an image in the small bottle held by him using colored sand. These are the culture and activities you will discover when you visit this place.

Art Work

This shop creates paintings and sketches of famous people. You can find many of these shops as you make your way into Kasturi Walk. These are the kind of people you will find over in this area.

Indian-Muslim Restaurant

This is an Indian-Muslim restaurant located just behind the Central Market. This place is famous for their Nasi Kandar and teh tarik. Their preparation of food varies compared to other local Indian-Muslim restaurants. This is another aspect of food in this area.

Central Market

Central Market, also known as Pasar Seni, is a well-renowned heritage site and a popular tourist attraction in Kuala Lumpur. Strategically situated in the heart of the city, Central Market is located at Jalan Hang Kasturi, a few minutes from another popular tourist attraction, Petaling Street. It has since been classified as a heritage site by the Malaysian Heritage Society and is now used as a Centre for Malaysian Culture, Arts and Handicrafts.

Sculptures

This photo shows sculptures, which resembles the Culture in Kinabatangan river, Sabah. These man maid sculptures are situated right in front of the Central Market. The sculptures are of Sabahan’s, which portray tradition.
